What is the difference between Hydrating or Moisturizing?

Ever wonder what the difference between Hydrating or Moisturizing? They are different, but by working together, they create beautiful skin. Simply, hydration means it contains humectants, a chemical that attracts water from the environment and within our skin cells. Some examples of humectants used in creams would be Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin.

Moisture, on the other hand, contains chemicals that help water stay in our skin instead of evaporating out. They fill the dry gaps on the surface and form a layer over the skin to help keep moisture in. Butters, oils and water are used to add moisture.

Look at this example of dry tired skin. The cells are starving for moisture and hydration. Don’t You just want to hug this person and then hand them a bottle of really good lotion?

Now, look at this very happy hydrated skin. Notice how full the cells look? They are loaded with water and moisture, and you can bet the person for whom this skin belongs has that beautiful skin that just glows.

Both Hydration and Moisture are key concerns here at Tremblay Handcrafted because we too are after our best lives and best skin.
